928s
have a unique suspension to all other Porsches. When aligning,
it is necessary to follow this procedure:
- Measure
ride height at all four corners.
- Lift
the car to install the wheel sensors and calibrate.
- Lower
the car back onto the alignment rack.
- Using
the racheting straps, pull the car down 1" below the measured
ride height for at least 1 minute. This settles the suspension.
- Release
the straps an perform a normal alignment. Failure to follow
this procedure, as specified by Porsche, will result in
rapid wear of the tires. Just "bouncing" the car to settle
the suspension will not work, as the 928 takes about 250
miles to of driving to relax the suspension bushings.
