1973 Porsche 914 1.7 Extensive Rust Restoration
It's funny how attached we can get to that car that holds a special place in our hearts. The owner of this particular car has had it since he was 14 years old. Even Dr. 914 himself had his doubts, but we're forging ahead to save it. Our master welder, Matt, has pulled on the gloves to breathe new life into an old friend.

This car is certainly a doozy! The rockers are nearly nonexistent, due to all the rust.

The passenger side of the floorpan isn't too bad...But look at the gaping hold under the driver's seat! One good bump and you're on the ground! The driver's side floorpan was cut away to get at the inner rocker and the door gap opend up to about 6 inches!
Trim work on the rusted areas in preparation for the new metal
The new metal has been welded into place, strengthening the car.

Driver's side nearing completion, new sheet metal has been added, and the area has been trimmed and prepped for the jack post and support.

The beautifully welded in outer and inner rockers with jack post
Starting on the passenger side. The rust has really had a field day here. At this point, we are only two day into this project. It'a really progressing fast!
