Look at the rear hatch lock. see that gap around it? wondered what goes there? it is this piece! subjected to ultra violet damage, this piece has long ago deteriorated. replacement is as easy as a snap and you will stop the water leak.

The manufacturing process of "cast in sleeves" provides for economy of scale in low horsepower engines, but does not accommodate high horsepower, high boost, or larger bore sizes.
