Listed for sale is a 1971 1.4 L 914 VIN 4712906310.
The car was my father's for about 30 years and to my knowledge
has never been in an accident. The car was stored
indoors for approximately 5 years in the late 90's
to early 00's. It recently made a resurgence to daily
commuter use, but has been in storage again for the last
3 months.
Mechanics:
The car runs, but I've been told it needs exhaust system work
to run well. The car has new tires and recently rebuilt
rear brakes. The odometer/speedometer did not work
for many years, so exact mileage is unknown, but likely
over 300k miles. The engine was rebuilt once, I
believe in the mid 80's.
Exterior/Body:
The car has always been stored in a garage and I believe
it is free of rust with the exception of the battery
tray area. The car was repainted red in the late 80's
from the original gold color. The original 1971 amber/red
tail lights were replaced with the later model year red
tail lights after the driver's side light was
broken. The original passenger light is included.
Holes were drilled in the passenger and driver
side doors for after-market side mirrors,
although these mirrors have been removed. The original
drivers side mirror has been reinstalled. The radio
antennae is missing.
Interior:
The interior is all original including stock radio.
The passenger's side sun visor is missing. The targa
top headliner is missing. The dashboard is cracked. Driver's
side seat is worn and cracked. Interior compartment
light is broken.
Although currently running, with the exhaust system work
this car would make a reliable as-is driver. It is
also a good candidate for a full restoration.
The car is located near Portland, Oregon. Asking price
$1500. Please call 360.834.6590 with specific
questions.
