Motor Trend Import Car of the Year from 1970
Road to Former Glory

Scott Crump was the most unlikely guy to ever own a 914 when he first entered the Automobile Atlanta front door in 1981. “I won my 914 at the New York Auto Show in 1970 he proudly exclaimed. The non descript slightly dirty white 1971 914 certainly did not impress me but Scott himself was such a nice and mild mannered guy that we gave him a morning job here selling Porsche parts!

Years passed families grew up and married and Scott drove and drove his 914 finally passing away in 1996 the car retired to the basement and left unattended.

I was delighted when finally seeing the car after all of these years to see how well preserved it was! While all of the guys around it had gone sadly down hill this one remained the same, a dirty driven car in 1981 now a shining example of an easily restored 914 and the real motor trend import car of the year!
